How Do I Find My Purpose?

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions that I get when talking to people. They will usually ask me that question after they have heard me talking about the importance of knowing why you are and how fulfilling your life will become when you find your purpose and begin to pursue it. Who am I? Why am I here? These questions have been asked for centuries. This question can be found in the birth of exploration, it was the spark of many wars and conquest and it has birthed countless philosophies and religions.

How do I find My Purpose? Can You See It?
AL Hollingsworth taught me a very important lesson; if you can't see it, it's very hard to do it. That isn't verbatim but, the concept stays true. It looks something like this: if I asked you to hand me a pooku shmooku, what would you hand me? Exactly! But if I told you that a pooku shmooku was like a pencil, then when I asked you to hand me a pooku shmooku, what would you hand me? Exactly! You would hand me a pencil.

Pain: How to Attract Success

"Pain don't hurt" or so says Dalton in the movie Road House. I loved that movie and I love that quote. The truth is pain does hurt, but the temporary and manageable hurt creates success!

I had the most amazing experience last year at the Denver and Minnesota Success Summits. For those of you that I was lucky enough to present to, you know that over time I have focused my energy on teaching skills, techniques, and strategies to help you get rich in real estate. I gave my first presentation to a live audience in 2006, and have since taught thousands of investors how to make money. I have written countless articles, reports, and a book. I love getting notes in the mail, emails, or people approaching me telling me how I helped change their life. Someone told me that my book helped them make an additional $50,000 this past year alone. You can probably tell that I have a passion and am driven to help people reach their goals, and now I understand that I was missing a very important piece to this mission. Most people need more than skills, techniques and strategies. Many can acquire all the information they need to make a fortune and still be broke. What most people need is the understanding of what it actually takes to be successful.

At this year's Success Summits, I tried something new. I tried to breakdown the fear that prevents us from taking action and tried to give techniques on how to move forward past the fear. I had a lot of fun with the presentation, but it also pulled a lot of emotion out of me and the audience. Multiple people told me I touched them, and it was the exact presentation they needed to hear as the try to jump start their investing. I think one of the reasons I had several people approach me in tears is because they know they have not been taking action, to avoid pain, and all that has created in their life is more pain. That is a hard thing for someone to realize. My guess is people left that presentation being hard on themselves. That is not the point. The point is, now they understand what was holding them back so that they can implement strategies to propel themselves forward. The past is the past, and serves only as an educator for the greatness that is about to come.

Is Your Environment Having A Negative Effect On Your Mental Health?

When it comes to mental and emotional health, what is taking place internally can often be the point of focus. This will include: the thoughts that someone has, what their beliefs are, and their brain chemistry.
So if someone is not operating at their best, and they were to get into self-development, they could end up working on their mind. If, on the other hand, they were to go the more traditional route and paid a visit to their doctor, they might end up taking something to 'rebalance' the chemicals in their brain.

Cast Aside
In both cases, what is going on around them is going to end up being completely overlooked. The question is what if their inner world is not in a good way because to what is taking place around them?
Or of it is not this black and white, what if their external world is playing a small part in what is taking place within them? Undoubtedly, if what is going on out there is playing a part, focusing solely on what is going on internally is not going to be the answer.

Money Is Actually Important

"If you think that money is not important, you don't have any"

After hearing the panelist make this comment, I immediately looked around the room to see who he just offended. Although I agree with him, I was surprised to hear him make such a strong comment in such a public forum. The truth is, this type of belief makes people without money, and no plans to get it, feel better. I have heard this a thousand times from family and friends when the topic of money comes up.

I remember growing up and watching the movie "Can't Buy Me Love" in school. The basic idea of the movie is that an unpopular male high schooler is desperate for approval and pays the lead cheerleader to date him for a month; or to at least make it look as though they are dating. This way he will become popular, which was a guarantee of his happiness. The result was that she starts to fall for him and he does in fact become popular. The popularity however, does not make him happy. In fact, the lesson was that money cannot buy you happiness. He was much happier with his original relationships than he was with the new ones from the "cool crowd". I was in elementary school when this movie was shown to my class and I still remember it.
