Let's face it; whether you're a busy homemaker or a high flying executive, today's popular mind-set is to be as busy as possible with nearly every hour and minute crammed with some kind of work. Yet the day-to-day pressure can build into chronic stress, which if ignored, can be detrimental to our mind, body, and spirit.
While most of us have stress in some form, an unhealthy response to stress happens when the demands of the stressor exceed an individual's coping ability. While stress is actually a psychological state of mind, as it considerably affects our physiological state. "In a classical stressful situation, certain stress hormones such as cortisol are released which increases the heartbeat, sweating, uneasiness, and the urge to urinate," with the initial indicator usually manifesting as an inability to sleep. In the long run this leads to problems such as indigestion, acidity, ulcers, low-back pains, high-blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, high cholesterol, depression, headaches, and fatigue, to name a few. Long-term stress also affects our immunity and reduces our disease-fighting capacity.

What do you say about yourself? Are you a happy person? If your reply is in negative then you need to think over it. All your education, intelligence, money, status and success is meaningless if you are not living a happy life. What is the reason of living if a person is not happy with his life?
I firmly believe that it is the right of every person to live a happy life but most people are not aware how to. Psychologists believe that 90% of our happiness depends on us while 10% depends on external circumstances, on which we have no or little control. If we are not living a happy life then it means that we are depriving ourselves of our 90% happiness due to our own narrow or negative thinking.
Always keep in mind that happiness has nothing to do with money or circumstances. I have seen rich people living unhappy life and poor people living happy life. In fact, it is the inner state of one's mind which keeps a person happy. You need to train your mind to be happy. If you decide to be happy no one can snatch your happiness. Some people are so much determined to be happy that even living in the worst circumstances, they manage to keep themselves happy. I salute such positive people.

What Is Attitude?
What is attitude? Quite simply, it is a point of view, an outlook on life that directs your inner energy toward outer manifestation and results. Attitude acts like a gyroscope that sets the orientation of your energy flow. Specifically, your attitude is your tendency of moving toward one thing among all things, in one direction to the exclusion of all other possible directions. It sets your course and predicts where you'll soon be in your life.
As children, whenever it would snow, my friends and I liked to play, "who can walk the straightest line?" We'd set a brief course from a starting point to a destination across the yard. Most of my friends would make their respective treks by looking at their feet and measuring the straightness of their path by looking back at the steps they'd just made. When they finally reached the end, their journey could be measured by anything but a straight line. There were little, sometimes gross, deviations all along the way.

Moving from time management to self-management is crucial to becoming more productive, especially since time is our most precious resource. It's fixed, doesn't discriminate--available equally to all--isn't influenced by anyone, yet most people complain about it. Either they "don't have enough," so they "run out," or they are "too busy" to do what they need to do in the available time.
Why do people complain about time? Author Dan Ariely (Honest Truth About Dishonesty, Loc 2079) tells us people lie to themselves. We have a "... deeply ingrained propensity to lie to ourselves and to others." Besides, "... We are pretty skilled at pulling the wool over our eyes." Instead of accepting that time is not an issue, but our lack of planning and prioritization is, we blame time. And according to Ariely, we feel good about ourselves, and we tell ourselves why "our actions are acceptable, and sometimes even admirable."

Most people get up in the morning and work on improving their position at work or on their companies. It is only natural that we get caught up in what has to be done to move a project forward. Activities I call working in your business instead of on your business. These activities have you working in your job and not on your job. Activities that are task related and will keep you in a worker bee mode. Who really has time to do more?
We as humans also need to work on what makes us efficient and happy. I can not over emphasize how important it is to do a personal check-in on a regular basis. When you do not book or scheduling ME TIME you can soon lose track of your dreams and goals. When you are submerged in task related activities you lose the ability to look around the corner. Successful business people often employ personal coaches. They know the importance of personal performance. You may think successful leaders are already at their pinnacle, but intelligent leaders know they need to be constantly improving. When you are the front-runner and innovator you set the standard for all others to follow. When you set the standard it is not about price. Your competitors and followers will have to compare themselves to you to market their products.

You might ask about this model, is it true? Or, is it any truer than any other model? Does it work? How does it work? And does it enable us to get to where we are going?

Bianca rose to the sound of pigeons cooing and traffic grumbling on the street below. As she yawned and stretched, she thought about what was waiting for her that day.
She felt her motivation slowly drain away with each deadline and commitment that zipped through her thoughts. As Bianca began to wither and wilt internally, she remembered the motivation pills she had purchased last week from the Good Value Pharmacy.
There were yellow pills labeled 'Money', pink pills labeled 'Pride', green pills labeled 'Family', purple pills labeled 'Respect' and some ugly grey pills labeled 'Nagging Advice'. The chemist had told her as he dispensed the pills that some would work for her and some would not... he could never tell in advance which pills would work for which customers. With that advice in mind and a smile on her lips, Bianca reached for the one she knew would be just right for her...
One of the best things you can do for yourself on your journey of self discovery is to work out what drives you. The first step is to identify your values as they provide the fuel for your motivation and the drive behind everything you do in life. If you value something you will always find the motivation and energy to do it. If you don't value something, you will always struggle to find the motivation and energy to do it.

We have heard it all the time - "If you change your attitude, you can do much better". Even in school the teachers say - "If you change your attitude, you will get good marks". At work, the boss say - "If you just change your attitude, you will go so far". When the employers are looking to hire people, they are looking for the right attitude. Why is it, that Attitude is so important? What do we really mean by Attitude? And how do we change our Attitude to get better things in our life?
Earl Nightingale, the famous motivational speaker and also known as the "Dean of Personal Development", had called Attitude as the Magic word. He explains in his landmark program Lead the Field, that our Attitude towards the Life determines the Life's Attitude towards us. The Law of Cause and Effect states that every cause has an effect or the result. So if have a poor attitude, we will get poor results. The poor results will reinforce the poor attitude and we get more and more such poor results. On the contrary, if we have a good attitude, we get good results and so does every successful person around us - because they have a good attitude. The Measure of Success
We are often told that money cannot buy happiness. So often in fact that the phrase has become an 'old saying' and, as then frequently happens, the words may be parroted but the meaning becomes blurred.
In today's world 'success' is usually measured by money and power. Since money can't buy happiness and power certainly doesn't insure it, we seem to be at a place in our society where happiness is not very highly regarded and is certainly not seen as a measure of success.
In the Oxford dictionary 'happy' is defined as 'feeling or showing pleasure or contentment' - however 'happiness' has no separate definition, only shown as the noun under 'happy'. I find that odd. It seems to imply that the state of happiness is not very important.
On the other hand, in The Art of Happiness the Dalai Lama is quite specific about what happiness means. On the first page he states, 'I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. That is clear. Whether one believes in religion or not,... we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think, the very motion of our life is towards happiness....'

Perhaps the most sobering type of realization that a person can have is the need for improving his or her self through a process known as personal growth. While there are different approaches and different formulas for success and riches, the principals involved remain the same in all.
Being open to change and ready to face the unknown are two crucial aspects of any program that leads to self-improvement and personal growth. For many the prospect of change is exciting, but only some can really appreciate and take upon themselves the effort, overcome the challenges and take the actions necessary to bring about change that is profound and lasting.
The prospect of letting go of old habits, old perceptions and other, undesirable, personal traits may be scary for some and will require an intense re-conditioning, while others embrace all the above easily and gracefully.
To achieve success in any aspect of life, one must be willing to redo that which did not work in the past. It is by learning to look at the same thing from a different perspective; changing the way you were conditioned to think and evaluate situations that any meaningful change can come to life.

When we want to achieve a specific objective in life, whether it's to start a business, become a certain sort of person, improve our health, increase our confidence, one of the ways we can do this is to look at setting a goal.

Habitually, life is a grind, don't you think? Ask your friends, "Why do you go to work everyday?" Nine out of ten of them will probably say, "Because everyone else does." How about that for inspiration? It's that painful attitude that we find ourselves subjected to every living day. Therefore, you could ask me, "What makes you think that I can break free from the bonds of conformity?" And I would answer, "Because you can. It's a choice; as your attitude is a choice and not a feeling."
So you wake up this morning still thinking about last night's argument you had with your spouse about the pile of debt you have collectively constructed. You swing your feet off the couch only to feel the cold remnants of the dog relieving his bladder in the middle of the night because you were too depressed to let him out. You ooze into the bathroom to rinse off and take the obligatory shower and there stands your counter-part. With the argument still lingering in the air you both choose to avoid the topic by not speaking at all.
How frustrating can this be since your son has the biggest game of the season tonight and your daughter's performance at her dance recital this evening will make or break her scholarship opportunity. You have a mountain of responsibility riding on a positive attitude today, but your ghastly experience of last night still lingers like a leach; slowly draining your life's energy one little suck at a time. Everyone wants to be happy, but not everyone is actually committed in doing what it takes to become happy. A real and honest commitment with yourself requires that you master the proper attitudes and actions to create happiness. Of course it involves careful study and practice. When you want to make a commitment simply saying you will do it will not suffice. If you want to learn to ride a bike the first step is to buy a bike. Imagine someone claims that it is important for him to learn to ride a bike but when you ask him if he bought a bike he says no. It shows that the person is not serious about learning how to ride a bike.
Just like making a commitment to learn how to ride a bike is up to the person, so to happiness. A person's commitment to trying to master happiness is all up to you. You can create it or destroy it all in a matter of moments if you choose not to apply happiness to your life. Your intense commitment to master happiness will enable you to experience more happiness for yourself and for the many people that surround you. They will be able to benefit from your happiness and they will be able to benefit from the way to interact from a place of joy. Even if you feel you don't deserve to be happy, or you feel that your life is too damaged to be happy you need to remind yourself that you were born and therefor you have an automatic birthright to happiness. You don't need to be considered special by any other person to have a right to be happy.

1) Set Specific Goals
Stating your goal in rather specific terms and conditions and you will better accept the journey needed to achieve the things you want in life. When setting goals, the process can be described as creating a map of your life. Similar to reading a road map to a desired vacation destination, you will twist and turn about a series of streets and highways in order to reach your intended location.
Setting lifetime goals is no different. As you set your goals, you will twist and turn throughout life to meet deadlines, achieve personal milestones and obtain knowledge that will bring you closer to the location in life you wish to enjoy. If you don't specify your goal, it makes it harder to pinpoint the twists and turns you need to make towards success and achievement. When you know what it takes to make your personal plans a reality, you will get there a lot faster, as well as effectively.
So, if you plan to buy a house in California, you simply cannot set the goal, " move to California" as a specific goal. There are so many components to this desire that you have to take notice of. Where in California do you want to live? How much will it cost? How much do you have to save before you can scan the real estate market? What is the cost of living in the state? Will you be able to find sufficient work there?
2) Backwards Thinking
Many individuals have found better success when they plan the achievement of their goals in a backwards manner. This is a great way to keep you on track towards moving forward. To get a better handle on this concept, let's say you wish to return to school and complete your bachelor's degree.
Would it be possible for you to start today? The answer is no. You have to apply to a school and get accepted before you can begin your studies. Would applying to a bachelor's program be possible today? Once again, the answer is no, unless you have your eyes set on one or more schools. Could you make a decision today?
